Day 2
3 November 2023
We had an early start at 7.30am and was most anxious to get going to the forest.
We had croissant and scrambled eggs with Ecuadorian coffee for breakfast. Catalina, the parrot enthusiast, was overjoyed when a rescued parrot joined us, adding to the excitement of our morning. Despite being fed by Catalina, the playful parrot couldn't resist sneaking bites of our food whenever it had the chance. After breakfast, we eagerly headed to the forest in Las Minas, near Misahualli, embarking on an unforgettable day filled with extraordinary moments of encountering numerous butterflies, each one a special treasure from our bucket list.
Here are some of the rare butterflies that we have shot just on our first day in Ecuador:
Frosted Arcas (Arcas tuneta)
We ended the day feeling really happy but tired and had an early dinner at Misahualli town at Papakuna Restaurant.
A popular pizza stall among the locals
Papakuna Restaurant
Saw lots of banana in the market, Ecuador being the largest exporter of bananas
